Team History

The SunDogs were founded and organized in the fall of 2000 by Duane Sunagel. Originally formed for young ladies to compete during the Winter Indoor Season, the SunDogs started competing in the Ohio Girls Softball Organization in the spring of 2001. The SunDogs entered their first competitive tournament in late summer of 2001 and the SunDogs followed up with a runner-up finish in their second and last tournament of 2001. The level of success in those first two tournaments combined with the softball talent of the young ladies made it an easy decision to compete in the 2002 National Softball Association (NSA) and American Softball Association (ASA). The success continues to this day as the team finished as a runner up in the 2009 USA/ASA National Championship.
The tournament history and record shows the increased competitiveness of the team and is evidence of the true team dedication each of the members gives on the field every game.
